If there is a room that requires an upgrade in our homes then that’s the kitchen. More often than not we find ourselves with old and stained counter tops ,missing cabinet knobs, missing cabinet doors, fallen hooks, overcrowded cabinets and drawers, old cookware we no longer use, container lids with no containers, the list is long people, very long. It’s the one room, we use so frequently and neglect just as much. When something wears out in the kitchen, the probability of throwing it away is almost zero because you have a drawer or a cabinet that you put all the things you don’t need. (You need to stop this, please learn to let go). I’m here to let you know that you don’t have to dig deep in your pocket to upgrade your kitchen. Take a look at how you can transform your kitchen on a budget.

  1. Declutter

My number one basic rule, declutter. It won’t work if you are a hoarder, trust me. By a hoarder I mean, you keep things that you don’t need any more. If it’s old or broken, let it go. If you have a newer, better version of it, share the old version with someone, sharing is caring. Declutter your kitchen, make sure you only have things you need and things you use, the rest of the things can find a new home. Ensure to get drawer organizers and jars to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. This is the simplest way to upgrade your kitchen.

  1. Replace knobs and pulls

If you have a cabinet with a broken knob or no knob at all, please call your contractor today. The weekend is around the corner, fix it kindly. It’s inconveniencing you and it’s an eye sore when a stylish kitchen has everything good except the knobs and pulls. Upgrade! That’s what you need to do, get nice new knobs and pulls for your beautiful cabinets.

  1. Update your Backsplash

A backsplash is the area between a kitchen counter top and the upper cabinets. The backsplash is usually a neutral color that blends in with anything else in the kitchen. It doesn’t have to be neutral; you can go all out on color. If your backsplash is not tiled then paint it. Glossy paint is highly recommended for kitchens so be sure to use that. If you have tiles for your backsplash, consider changing them. You can have a mosaic look, a subway look, a textured tile look, an embossed concrete look, there is a lot of great looks for the kitchen. Choose the one you love.

Wicker tray

  1. Upgrade your accessories

The breakfast and fruit accessory trays need an upgrade if they are broken or if they worn out or just for the sake of a stylish kitchen. The dry foods jar /container needs a replacement if the lid no longer works. You get the flow, the simple accessories you have on your counter top need an upgrade. You can get a wicker tray for your fruits or breakfast items, it’s lovely and it does the work.

Painted cabinets

  1. Paint the cabinets

Painting your cabinets will give your kitchen a whole new look. You can go all out and paint bold colors or you can work with neutrals such as white, beige, gray and hues of brown. It’s really about your preference when it comes to painting, pick a color you love. An off the book quick tip, seek professional advice from an interior designer.
